The Trustees of Fulwood Academy seek to appoint a Director of Maths with the skill, vision and energy to inspire our pupils. The post holder will have a key role to play in the further development of Fulwood Academy, which was rated "Good" by Ofsted in June 2023.

You will join a team of staff who share the passion to develop pupils learning with strong subject knowledge, who are committed to providing the best learning opportunities possible for the pupils of Fulwood.


We seek to appoint a Director of Mathematics who has:

  • A passion for teaching Mathematics at KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and experience of raising attainment in Mathematics
  • Drive and enthusiasm to lead and take responsibility for Teaching and Learning in the Mathematics curriculum area
  • The skills and focus to make contributions to the wider Academy
  • Dedication to improving the opportunities for the pupils of Fulwood Academy by delivering innovative opportunities which go beyond the classroom curriculum

Salary: L6-L10 (£53,380) – (£58,959) Per Annum

Fulwood Academy opened on 1st September 2009 replacing Fulwood High School and Arts College, an established and successful 11-16 Secondary School situated in North Preston. In June 2023 Ofsted rated Fulwood Academy as "Good" in all areas, in the report they said:

  • Leaders have established an inclusive culture at the school where every pupil is valued.
  • Pupils are calm, polite and they benefit from the positive relationships that they have with staff. 
  • Staff value the support they receive from leaders. They are proud to be part of the school.


The Academy’s sponsor is Charles Dunstone, founder of Carphone Warehouse. His support for the Academy will ensure that pupils and staff benefit from ‘cutting edge’ technology to support learning. His vision for the Academy is outlined in the enclosed prospectus and documentation.
