A phonics resource for children learning about ‘ck’ at the end of words. There are 2 worksheets where children use the words provided to label the pictures. There is a sheet with 16 sentences where children add the missing words that end in ck. (S may be added for plurals). They can write these out in their workbooks or just add the missing words onto the sheet. There is a wordsearch and wordsearch answer sheet provided.

Fun with frogs and data handling at KS1. The lesson starts with children looking at the colour poster of 18 frogs all wearing different hats. Children observe carefully looking at the frogs eye colour and types of head wear. Sheet 2 asks children to count and record e.g. number of frogs with brown eyes/party hats/work hats. There are 5 questions to answer. Sheet 3 is for children to draw a hat on each of the frogs and label them. Sheet 4 shows frogs in different positions or activities. Children colour the matching frogs to make them the same. Sheet 5 shows 2 writing frames for children to write about frogs or their findings of the data handling activities.

The games are differentiated so that children can start with 8 items to recall and then move on to 10. Children will use their spelling skills also to write the word or for younger children they can dictate their answers. Extend with more objects and/or real objects covered with a cloth as in Kim’s game.

4 fine motor control activities linked to your Transport topic. Vehicles for children to trace around are: Bus, Van, Boat and Tractor. You could also laminate and add these to your writing corner and children can reuse with dry markers.

A power point presentation to share with young children encouraging them to talk about keeping safe and road safety as well as observing sings all around. Slides 1 to 4 show colour images and words that children can name and discuss their meaning. Slide 5 can be printed off as a worksheet and asks the children to write about how to cross the road safely. Slide 6 is a table of some of the vocabulary the children could use in their writing or learn as part of their topic work.
